The Biomedical Center, BMC, is the biggest research institute at Lund University, Sweden. BMC wanted a flexible print solution allowing users to collect their documents at the printer of their choice. Furthermore the institute wanted a combined printer and copier that featured access control. After having evaluated a number of alternatives BMC decided on HP 8150MFPs equipped with SafeCom, and supplied by Netprint Solution AB in Göteborg and Thystrup Data in Lund.

Each of the institute's HP 8150MFPs are connected to a SafeCom Magnetic Card Reader with Touch-screen. The users identify themselves by swiping their access card. Once logged in the users can copy, print all documents or browse through their list of documents to print, delete or retain individual documents.

The SafeCom Tracking module enables BMC to view costs on a per user and printer basis. BMC is using the collected accounting data to distribute costs internally.
